SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

16TH DISTRICT PTA SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: Minimum $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending FCPS high schools with active PTAs
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; academic achievement; community involvement
  • Description: Established to support deserving FCPS students pursuing postsecondary education.

BAIRD SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Varies; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Boyle County High School or Danville High School
  • Requirements: Academic potential; school and community involvement
  • Description: Created in 2002 by Baird (formerly Hilliard Lyons) to assist promising Boyle County students.

BE THE CHANGE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,500; renewable for one additional year
  • Eligible Students: FCPS graduating seniors eligible for free/reduced lunch
  • Requirements: Potential for academic success; plan to attend a KY two- or four-year college; interest in specific fields of study
  • Description: Established by ONE Lexington to empower students pursuing careers in underrepresented professions and strengthen community safety and equity.

BUCK AND LILLIE MAY PATRICK SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Magoffin County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year institution
  • Description: Supports Magoffin County students pursuing higher education.

CLARK SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $1,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating high school seniors attending Fayette County Public Schools or Central High School (Louisville); or immediate family of CLARK employees in Kentucky
  • Requirements: Kentucky residency; GPA 2.5+; community involvement; financial need; plan to attend a four-year institution
  • Description: Created by CLARK Material Handling to support student success, with preference for first-generation college students.

DOROTHY T. GIVENS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $5,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: African American seniors attending George Rogers Clark High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.75+; leadership; financial need
  • Description: Established through a bequest by Dorothy T. Givens to support promising students from Winchester, KY.

DR. GERI POLVINO, RUSSELL, JOSEPHINE & MARY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Female seniors attending public high schools in Fayette, Jessamine, or Madison Counties
  • Requirements: GPA 2.0+; financial need
  • Description: Established by Dr. Geri Polvino to provide young women in central Kentucky the opportunity to pursue higher education.

DR. W.C. MCCAULEY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Woodford County High School pursuing a medical-related field
  • Requirements: GPA 3.0+
  • Description: Established in memory of Dr. W.C. McCauley to support future medical professionals.

EDWA P. YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Amount varies; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Bath County High School
  • Requirements: Demonstrate potential for success; preference for students planning to study music
  • Description: Created by Preston Young to honor his mother.

EDWIN PAUL LYON III MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $1,750; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors from Magoffin County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 3.0+; financial need
  • Description: Established in memory of Edwin Paul Lyon III to support Magoffin County students.

EMMA E. BUCKLEY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,500; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Woodford County High School or Fayette County Public Schools
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Honors philanthropist Emma E. Buckley’s commitment to education.

GILL-ELLIOTT SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $2,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors from Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, KY
  • Requirements: Unweighted GPA 3.5+; ACT 28+ or SAT 1250+; plan to major in STEM or pre-medicine
  • Description: Honors longtime Highlands High School science teacher William J. Elliott.

HOWARD EDELSTEIN SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $1,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Kentucky students of Jewish faith attending University of Kentucky or University of Louisville
  • Requirements: GPA 2.0+; financial need
  • Description: Established to support Jewish students pursuing four-year degrees in Kentucky.

HUDSON-ELLIS VOCATIONAL SKILLS AND COLLEGE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Up to $3,000; renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Boyle County High School, Danville High School, and Kentucky School for the Deaf
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need
  • Description: Created through a bequest from Lottie Ellis to support local students.

JANE ALLEN NEWMAN SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,500; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating Seniors from Fayette, Union, or Harrison Counties
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Established by Jane Allen Newman to expand educational opportunities for deserving students.

JARED BANTA LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Seniors at Western Hills High School in Frankfort, KY
  • Requirements: GPA 3.0+; participation in sports and/or the arts; financial need; plan to attend a two- or four-year institution (preference for KY or OH)
  • Description: Honors the life and legacy of Jared E. Banta.

JEAN H. JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP & GEORGE F. JOHNSON, JR. SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $3,000 each; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending public high schools in Pike County
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Established through a bequest from Hobart Johnson to support Pike County students.

JENNIFER LEIGH SOPER CYSTIC FIBROSIS SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: At least $1,000; non-renewable (past recipients may reapply)
  • Eligible Students: College-bound students with cystic fibrosis
  • Requirements: Full-time enrollment at accredited college, community college, or technical school
  • Description: Created in memory of Jennifer Leigh Soper to support students living with cystic fibrosis.

JOHN AND MAGGIE PRICE SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $1,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: FCPS graduating seniors planning to major in nursing
  • Requirements: Enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year institution
  • Description: Established to continue John Price’s legacy of supporting FCPS students.

JOSIAH DALE TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Amount varies; renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Woodford County High School who plan to enter trade/vocational programs
  • Requirements: GPA 1.0+; financial need; enrollment in accredited trade program within six months
  • Description: Honors Josiah Dale and supports students pursuing skilled trade careers.

KATHRYN OWEN VETERINARY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Minimum $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; plan to pursue pre-veterinary or related life science studies
  • Description: Created through a bequest from Kathryn Owen to support future veterinarians.

KING-BARTON SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Harrison County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; significant financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Established to support Harrison County students with financial need.

LOGAN THOMAS FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $5,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Lee County HS, Lee County Area Tech Center, Owsley County HS, and Wolfe County HS
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; must attend a two-year or four-year college college/university or vocational/technical school in Kentucky
  • Description: Honors the legacy of Logan Thomas and his son through educational support.

THE MACLELLAN EDUCATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: Up to $10,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Children/stepchildren of MacLellan Services employees
  • Requirements: GPA 2.0+; financial need; must pursue specified fields of study
  • Description: Established by MacLellan Services to support educational opportunities for the children of their employees.

MONICA COMBS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $5,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Woodford County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; attendance at a two- or four-year college or technical school; embodiment of Monica’s compassion and leadership
  • Description: Honors Monica “Moni” Combs and her legacy of kindness and service.

R.L. BROWN FOUNDATION VOCATIONAL SKILLS AND COLLEGE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,500; renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Bath County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; preference for first-generation students and Sharpsburg residents
  • Description: Created through a bequest from R.L. Brown to support Bath County students.

ROBERT HENRY HUGHES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,500; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Fayette County Public Schools
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need
  • Description: Established in 1935 to support the educational advancement of FCPS students.

STEPHEN L. KELLER SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible students: graduating high school seniors and current undergraduates from Eastern Kentucky
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; major in a business-related field; must attend a four-year institution in Kentucky
  • Description: supports students pursuing business studies in Kentucky.

STEVEN G. TODD SCHOLARSHIP MEMORIAL FUND

  • Award: $1,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY
  • Requirements: GPA 3.0+; financial need; full-time enrollment in fall
  • Description: Established through the estate of Fannie Pherigo Todd to support Clark High students.

STEWART FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $2,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Students residing in Boyd, Carter, Greenup, or Lawrence Counties (KY) or Scioto/Lawrence (OH)
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; financial need; demonstration of strong character
  • Description: Supports students dedicated to service and strong work ethic.

THOMAS B. BRIGHT, JR., MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $1,500; non-renewable (students may reapply)
  • Eligible Students: Graduating high school seniors or undergraduates who are employees/relatives of members of the Kentucky Propane Gas Association
  • Requirements: None specified beyond eligibility
  • Description: Honors Thomas B. Bright Jr., former KYPGA president.

THOMAS D. URMSTON SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: $3,000; renewable up to four years
  • Eligible Students: Female graduating seniors attending Harrison County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; significant financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Supports women from Harrison County pursuing higher education.

VENGU FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

  • Award: Minimum $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Scott County or Great Crossing High School
  • Requirements: GPA 3.0+; plan to study a medical field or photography; full-time enrollment at a four-year institution
  • Description: Honors Dr. Narayan Kumar “Dr. Vengu” Venguswamy and his wife Jayanthy.

W.O. DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: Minimum $1,000; non-renewable
  • Eligible Students: Graduating seniors attending Woodford County High School
  • Requirements: GPA 2.5+; significant financial need; preference for first-generation students
  • Description: Supports Woodford County students with demonstrated need.
