Nonprofit registration opens August 11 for revamped Giving Tuesday event

Blue Grass Community Foundation is thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter for its region-wide giving day. After 14 impactful years as the GoodGiving Challenge, the annual celebration of community generosity has a new name, a fresh format and a bold mission: Bluegrass Gives.

This year’s event will be held on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 6am to midnight, with Early Giving beginning November 25. Nonprofit registration runs August 11 through September 30 at BGgives.org.

A Legacy of Impact, A Future of Possibility

Since its founding in 2011, the GoodGiving Challenge has helped hundreds of nonprofits across Central and Appalachia Kentucky raise more than $26 million to power vital programs and services. The name may be changing, but the goal remains the same: to inspire generosity that creates lasting change.

“These updates honor the legacy of the GoodGiving Challenge while positioning Bluegrass Gives for even greater success,” said Lauren Parsons, director of strategic initiatives + communications at Blue Grass Community Foundation. “We’re condensing the event into one high-energy day to amplify excitement, engagement and impact.”

What’s New in 2025?

One Day. Big Impact.

Bluegrass Gives is now a one-day event, aligning with the global spirit of Giving Tuesday. Donors can give during Early Giving or participate in the main event from 6am to midnight on December 2.

Around-the-Clock Matches and Prizes

Expect exciting opportunities to maximize gifts with match challenges, prizes and power hours around the clock, to energize donors and reward nonprofit outreach.

A New Name that Says It All

“Bluegrass Gives” is a bold statement of regional pride and shared purpose. The name better reflects the event’s geographic focus, the mission of Blue Grass Community Foundation and the power of collaboration.

Generosity isn’t a competition—it’s a shared effort. We’re all in this together.

Nonprofit Registration Opens August 11

Nonprofits serving communities in Central and Appalachia Kentucky can register to participate at BGgives.org from August 11 to September 30, 2025. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities with a GuideStar Gold Seal of Transparency and a physical location in Blue Grass Community Foundation’s service area. “We’re in it for good,” added Lauren. “Bluegrass Gives is more than a fundraising event—it’s a rallying point for generosity across the region. We invite nonprofits and donors alike to be part of this powerful movement.”
