Harrison County Community Fund to the rescue!
When the
nearly 25-year-old three-door refrigerator at Hope’s Helping Hands Food Bank went on the fritz, board member Skip Hobbie knew just where to turn for help: the Harrison County Community Foundation.
Within days, a brand new refrigerator was delivered to the Walnut Street home of the food bank.
HCCF is a permanent, charitable resource that supports a wide variety of local causes and organizations. HCCF was formed in partnership with Blue Grass Community Foundation, which handles administration, investment and legal requirements for the local organization.
The HCCF is overseen by a local advisory board made up of Marlin and Cheryl Anness, David Asher, Jackie Burrell, Stephanie Burden, Kristy Carey, Rachel Harney, Harland Hatter, Dr. Brett Hines, Doug Hampton, Dave Melcher, Audrey Middleton, Annastasia Hicks Peoples and Mark Trachsel.
Last Thursday, several board members were given a tour of the facility by Jackie Collins, director of Hope’s Helping Hands Food Bank. She described what the food bank was able to provide those in need and enthusiastically showed off the facility’s new $2,588 refrigerator.
By giving to the HCCF, you are investing in and shaping our community’s future. The HCCF supports all kinds of civic and charitable projects in our community.
The first grants distributed by HCCF took place in 2015, and they’ve never looked back.

Another $17,000 was given in support of ten local businesses for everything from website development, outdoor seating, improved signage, and upgrades to dressing rooms and display cases to create a safe and inviting space for customers.
