The GoodGiving Challenge is now Bluegrass Gives: A New Name, Same Mission to Power Local Generosity

August 11, 2025

Nonprofit Registration is open at BGgives.org

Blue Grass Community Foundation is proud to introduce Bluegrass Gives, the new name for Central and Appalachia Kentucky’s annual online giving campaign, previously known as the GoodGiving Challenge. Bluegrass Gives 2025 will take place on Giving Tuesday, December 2, from 6am to midnight, with donors rallying to support the hundreds of local nonprofits that make our communities stronger, kinder and more connected.

“For 14 years, the GoodGiving Challenge has celebrated what’s best about our communities—people coming together to make a difference,” said Lauren Parsons, director of strategic initiatives + communications at Blue Grass Community Foundation. “Bluegrass Gives builds on that tradition of generosity and shines a spotlight on what defines the Bluegrass region: we give.”

Since its launch in 2011, Bluegrass Gives has helped hundreds of local nonprofits raise more than $26 million by engaging tens of thousands of donors in building a better Bluegrass.

Collective giving days like Bluegrass Gives create momentum that helps nonprofits raise more money and broaden their reach. In 2024, the event generated $2.93 million for 201 participating nonprofits, with organizations raising an average of $13,634. These campaigns also connect nonprofits with new supporters—one in three donors last year gave to a nonprofit they had never supported before. Studies show that nonprofits can raise two to five times more during a collective, coordinated Giving Tuesday campaign than through other online fundraising efforts, thanks to the sense of urgency, matching opportunities and community celebration these events inspire.

Nonprofit registration is now open at bggives.org. Participation is open to 501(c)(3) public charities in Blue Grass Community Foundation’s service area. This year, the registration fee has been reduced to $250, making it easier for organizations of all sizes to join in. BGCF will host in-person and virtual training sessions to help nonprofits make the most of their campaign. More details about Bluegrass Gives and how to register can be found at bgcf.org/bggives.
