Advancing Bold, Black-Led Community Change

The Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative was created to pursue the goal of strengthening, supporting, and making a meaningful impact in Black communities.

Since its founding in the summer of 2020, LBPI has awarded more than $375,000 to local organizations that are building a better future and transforming lives in local Black communities. But it’s not nearly enough. As we accelerate Black-led social change at this historic point in time, we need your support to increase our investments in Black students, organizations, and families in Fayette County.

We have ambitious goals to grow our impactful grantmaking and our permanent endowment fund to ensure this critical work continues long into the future.

The Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative IS A POWERFUL, BLACK-LED PHILANTHROPY MOVEMENT

As a local funding initiative that is 100% Black-led and explicitly focused on strengthening Lexington’s Black community, LBPI is uniquely positioned to address the most pressing issues that Black residents face because of deliberate and systematic underinvestment.  

Our work, powered to-date by the collective giving of over 2,000 donors and the programming impact of locally led organizations, has helped begin the important work of transformation – improving the quality of life for everyone in Fayette County. With a spirit of giving rooted in faith, family, and community, our supporters generously share their time, talent, and treasure to advance our work.

The Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative charitable fund has two component parts. The first allows donors to support immediate needs; while the second component, a permanent endowment, will provide resources in perpetuity to advance the mission of the Initiative.
